Mail in Outlook on Windows
There are two kinds of Outlook on Windows: the new one and the classic one. This guide covers both.
Which one do I have? If there's a small New Outlook switch at the top right, or the program is just called "Outlook" with a new, simple look, it's the new one. If you have a File menu at the top left, it's the classic one.
New Outlook
- Go to Settings (the gear) › Accounts › Email accounts › Add account.
- Enter your email address and click Continue.
- Choose IMAP as the account type.
- Enter your password and click Show more.
- Incoming (IMAP): server mail.mailsky.eu, port 993, secure connection SSL/TLS.
- Outgoing (SMTP): username = your full email address, your password, server mail.mailsky.eu, port 465, secure connection SSL/TLS.
- Click Continue.
Good to know: the new Outlook fetches your mail through Microsoft's servers. It works fine, but a copy of your mail is then also kept at Microsoft. To avoid that, use classic Outlook, Thunderbird or webmail.
Classic Outlook
- Go to File › Add Account.
- Enter your email address, open Advanced options, tick Let me set up my account manually, and click Connect.
- Choose IMAP.
- Incoming mail: server mail.mailsky.eu, port 993, encryption method SSL/TLS.
- Outgoing mail: server mail.mailsky.eu, port 465, encryption method SSL/TLS.
- Do not tick Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA). Click Next.
- Enter your password and click Connect.
